The Structure

of The Road to Truth

 

The bridge really has a structure to it, that has apparently not been noticed before. By taking a step back and looking at the whole thing, it is actually quite simple what we are trying to do.

The bridge has always been surrounded with a certain amount of mystery, particularly concerning the upper levels. It has not been quite clear where it actually went, and at which time one would have attained what. People would place their own ultimate hopes and desires at some high point on the chart. And they might very well get confused or disappointed when they finally get there, and the result doesn't match the dream.

Most people would early on the bridge form a concept or an understanding of what "Full OT" is. The concept would usually be based on an understanding of the simple basic properties of a being. And it will be very close to the truth. A being can basically postulate and perceive anything, take any viewpoint, know anything, cause anything. We have obviously fallen away from the full command of those abilities. The goal of a bridge would naturally be to return to the original state enriched by what has been experienced, and able to play on the whole register without adverse effects from that point on.

The goal of the bridge is desirable and attainable. There is really no reason to scale it down to lesser size as some groups do. What has to be done is to lay out the series of gradient steps which lead towards the goal, to label them correctly, and to travel the path. There are various pieces of the puzzle, various distinct subjects and steps, and actually several distinct parallel tracks to travel to get to the goal. Confusing the pieces and the paths with each other will lead to disappointment, losses, and stops on the road.

The bridge in the Church provided steps for making a sane and happy human being. The grades and making a Clear is a very well understood and well functioning setup. The bridge also provided a series of OT levels. They have produced excellent wins for many people, but they didn't lead to anywhere in particular, and the bridge just ended then. The Ron's Org bridge remedied that situation, and made the OT levels actually lead somewhere. The point and purpose in doing the bridge has now also been much better understood and explained. However the bridge still doesn't go the whole way. One might still be surprised or disappointed that one's wish list still hasn't been taken care of. There is yet another strata of stuff. Pieces of the upper parts have been developed or suggested, but it still doesn't lead anywhere. It should however begin to be clear what that top section is about.

I will claim that the bridge can be divided into 3 distinctly different areas at this point. To keep things simple I will call what we do on all 3 of them "Clearing". Clearing would be the as-isness of previously uninspected material in that area and thereby getting closer to truth. Roughly the same meaning as "Auditing".

The first part of the bridge from the start through the grades to Clear deals with Life. We are talking about human life, the frictions one has with others, the sufferings in life, what has happened to you in a body, the quirks of a human mind, and so forth. That is handled by inspecting it, exercising positive abilities, keying it out, running the incidents of effect, and so forth. The end result is a happy, sane, well functioning human being. I would call that a Life Clear. And the process of attaining it would be Life Clearing and the grades towards it would be the Life Levels. Those are just words, but they describe what is actually happening well.

The next part is from OT1 through OT16 on the Ron's Org bridge. We are no longer concentrating on one's everyday human life here. These levels might or might not be effective in handling personal problems and concerns, but it is not their main focus. As the term OT implies they deal with Operating. They handle reasons for not being able to operate, not being able to DO things. And they do that mainly by handling the case of other beings of various categories that one might be linked up with. Those other beings would make you confused, try to control you, impose their own case upon you and so forth, and that would hold you back. The end result of running these levels would be to have cleared away the connections that stopped you, an Operation Clear. Actually it could be more correctly described as having been keyed out of the games one is in. The levels to attain it could be called Operation Levels if one would so choose. Note that I disagree with the notion that one would be totally out of the games and have no more case at this point. One definitely has an exterior viewpoint and an increased level of operation. But as long as one still has to have a body, and a physical universe, and a personality - one hasn't gone all the way. But, not to worry, that is really the next strata, it doesn't belong on the Operation Levels anyway.

After the Operation Levels one is largely not connected with any mass. What is left is stuff without mass. And what is that? Primarily the thetan's own bank. It has hardly been touched up until that point, and now it is finally directly accessible. The most basic ability of a thetan is to postulate (secondarily to perceive, but that is itself a postulate). So the only thing that can really aberrate a thetan is his own postulates. The only thing, period. What has been handled so far is really just the garbage that has collected around the thetan's own postulates, and it was only there because of those postulates. But we had to handle it first to be able to see and as-is the thetan bank. All previous attempts to handle that case earlier on the chart have failed. So, we are dealing with postulates and their major manifestations, such as beingnesses and goals. We are dealing directly with the manifestations of the static, so I would call these levels the Static Levels. The end result of clearing these subjects, a Static Clear, would be a static that can assume or not assume any beingness, that doesn't have any forgotten postulates, and who can create freely. That is a Cleared Theta Clear if you look it up in Tech Dix. Now, the problem is what we run to attain that. There apparently isn't a set of ready made levels that do it. The closest thing seems to be GPM type of tech. So, the steps need to be worked out, but the first step is to know what we are dealing with.

Now, these three areas are divided quite logically. The table below describes better how existence divides between them. Actually they are kind of 3 parallel tracks, but it seems to work out best if they are in the described order. It also shows their relative seniority. The Life Levels produce releases that seem permanent at the time, but can easily be screwed up later on when the Operation Level material is in restimulation. And since none of those sets of levels really handle the underlying reasons, their manifestations can be re-created at any time by restimulation of the Static Level case. Case is not totally gone, before the underlying postulates are gone. That can be depressing for pOTs in the middle of the bridge with unhandled "earlier" case in restimulation, but an understanding of the matter makes it easier to bear. As Ron says, one cannot take one step on the road to truth without going all the way.

Gradients of Truth

Evaluative or Non-Evaluative

 

The purpose of clearing is to view on a gradient whatever one is unknowingly creating and thereby get back one's ability to create or not create it at will.

Ultimate truth is, and can never be anything but, the static and it's ability to postulate truth.

Anything else is to a greater or lesser degree a lie. Anything can be found somewhere on the gradient scale to truth, being part truth and part lie.

A truth is basically a known, an as-is ness. A lie is a gradient of unknown, that is alter-is ness or not-is ness.

Now, lies lead to more, worse, lies. That is the mechanism of the dwindling spiral. If one has already accepted some lies, and one has trouble because of that, one is likely to accept some more lies to explain the situation. And so on ad infinitum. One would build up a greater and greater collection of almost truths, half truths, not-very-truths, untruths, lies, damned lies, and so forth. And one would be more and more in trouble, one has painted oneself more and more into a corner.

That is the story of the gradual fall of an all-powerful, all-knowing static down to the sorry state of humankind. And it is also on a smaller scale the story of any human suffering.

That is what happens if the subject of Clearing is not known. Clearing is the reverse vector: gradually peeling away un-truths and thereby getting access to higher and higher levels of truth.

The ultimate end result of clearing is a static who has cleared away all unknowing creation AND who knows the principles of clearing. That last thing is the way the quality of static can be improved, and it is the whole point of the aberration/de-aberration game.

But at this stage of the game, what we have to work with is a being who is in the middle of a large number of lies on many levels. That is important: the lies and truths are on many different levels.

We are talking about an illusion within an illusion within an illusion and so forth.

Upon peeling away one layer of illusion one sees the next layer out. A pre-clear who gets rid of charge gets a cognition, which is a re-alignment of data or postulates. He will usually align things in the direction of more truth than he had before. Also he might not. That is why a trained pre-clear will gain better than an un-trained pre-clear, he is more likely to pick a better truth. At any rate the newfound truth is still part truth, part lie.

For example a person who has a hard time with his physical surroundings might be run on objective processes. He might find out that the walls really are there, that they are very real to him, and that he can control his body better. That is great, that is what we would want to accomplish. But actually it is just one step up in relative truth. We don't then tell him that the walls are just mocked up illusions, and what is he doing there with a body anyway. He will sort those things out in due time.

So, clearing is the gradual process of producing a better and better relative truth.

The truth found along the way, how wonderful it might seem, is not the ultimate truth. The road to truth has to be travelled all the way. Otherwise one might become lost in yet another illusion along the way.

For the process of clearing to occur one has to accommodate some of the illusions the pre-clear is stuck in in order to clear some of the other ones. One has to facilitate the process through means that are real to the pre-clear.

When we find the pre-clear in a body we would naturally use that to communicate with. And we would bring him into better reality with his surroundings, and ease up the trouble he has with those surroundings. And then we would move up through higher level concepts still using bodies, ARC, and some outlined plan to facilitate the process.

Really, any of the elements used in clearing are to some degree forcing some non-truth on the preclear. We are using bodies even though we want him to go free from the need of using bodies. We are using words and language even though they can't approximate truth very exactly. We are basing the clearing session on ARC even though that is also an illusion. (ARC would be meaningless to someone who didn't have a beingness located in space.)

We are using certain programs, procedures, techniques, and steps to make the clearing take place. And we need to play some trick on the preclear to get him to bring up (restimulate) some area of unknown (charge) so that the can look at it and as-is it. Remember it is unknown, he doesn't know what it is before we make him find out.

All clearing is to some extent evaluative. We have to get the pre-clear to agree to something in order to make it possible. He must agree to be here during the duration of the session. He must agree to be the effect of the practitioner's control. He must agree to look at a certain subject in a certain way. He is acknowledged for the things he finds out (which involves ARC which in turn includes agreement).

As the purpose of clearing is as-is ness any part of the setup that involves persistence (alter-is ness) is pulling a bit in the other direction. The catch-22 is that we must provide persistence (of the road) long enough for someone to get to total non-persistence. You really can't get them to travel the road without lying to them in some fashion. For example you might have to provide a game (which involves unknow and persistence) to keep people interested.

Clearing can be more or less evaluative in terms of the subject of the session. It is a scale going from providing the PC with the actual material and cognitions he should find up to just providing the administrative background for as-ising whatever is there. Ultimately that shouldn't be necessary either.

As little evaluation as possible at the given time is the ideal. Realistically a relatively high level of evaluation and control is needed at the beginning of the road, and gradually the control will be handed over to the preclear and he will more and more make his own evaluation of what is there.

Ultimately the PC is the only person who can evaluate which subjects are there to handle. In the beginning we can get away with handing him general areas of expected case, but the further we go the more important it becomes to get the PC's exact case viewed and we must allow him freedom to find it. The last most important stretch of the road can only be travelled by the preclear himself.

And eventually the aberrative effects of the clearing process itself must be let go of and cleared. The ultimate truth is the static.

Interestingly enough, similar principles apply to training. Training is a process going from a highly evaluated parrotting of materials, up through a command of different kinds of material, through an understanding of underlying principles, up to the ability to be source in that field. The amount of evaluation is lessening through that process and more and more control is given over to the student of the subject.

Early in training we force a person to duplicate a mechanical way of doing something, we give him a step-by-step list of what he should do. That is not THE truth, but it is workable truth on that level. Providing the student with philosophical principles like ARC, Be-Do-Have, the Scale of Emotions etc is also not ultimate truth, but just workable truth. Some of them are for that matter invented just for that purpose. Gradually we replace the illusion with a more and more basic workable truth.

Truth is relative. It is used as the basis of finding a relatively truer truth.

The Dimensions of Case

 

One's "Case" can roughly be divided into 3 areas:

1. Own case: Postulates, Considerations, and their structure

2. Others' case: Mis-ownership of the case of others imposed on one's space

3. Generalities: General agreed-upon areas of life and abilities, grades type of charge.

They incidentally match up with the Static Levels, the Operation Levels, and the Life Levels respectively. However, that doesn't mean that their handling is limited to those levels, just that that is their natural place on the chart.

The only basic cause for aberration is #1. However by associating with other beings one might mis-own their #1 case and that is what makes for the enormous tangledness of case. Below awareness of the mis-ownership certain generalities are created by group-agreement. The generalities can be handled as such because there is a wide agreement that they exist.

The 3 kinds of case can be handled either in a positive way (exercising abilities, expanding space, and thereby making bank less powerful in comparison) or in a negative way (running out the "reasons" for the case). Positive is roughly equivalent to Objective, and Negative to Subjective processing. See LRH tape "Level VII".

The problem is that all three types usually are present at the same time. One's basic postulates are clouded by being mixed up with many other people's postulates and case, and the agreed upon reality of life, bodies, natural laws etc severely limits one's ability of handling the whole mess.

On clearing the lower levels (Life Levels) one could ignore #1 and #2 type of case without too much trouble and only address #3. The PC is below awareness of #2 and the real #1 case is unavailable. Grades and Engram Running are done with a total disregard of who the charge belongs to, and we give very little attention to why he would get involved with that sort of case. Postulates are involved in engram running and in going Clear, but they hardly touch the basic Static Level postulate structures.

On Operation Levels one is mainly addressing #2 case. It is no longer possible to address #3 case negatively, engram running would not be possible here (at least not unless one was totally sure who the incident belonged to). Grades type of processing is still possible but less effective. That charge was the thing to run when the whole thing was a composite, now it is separating out. On the Operation Levels, at least on 3 and up, the habit of checking whose charge it is is added, e.g. on ruds. It becomes increasingly vital to know who the charge belongs to.

On Static Levels the style changes again. The main target is the #1 case, one's own basic postulates. Now on a given piece of charge one not only has to find out who it belongs to, one also has to find one's own postulate(s) that made it possible. One can no longer get away with simply the #1 or #2 approach.

As one moves up the chart the buffer that existed between oneself and the more basic charge is removed. That has the advantage of making it more accessible, but it has the disadvantage of leaving oneself open to manipulation from it, unless one deals with it.

On the lower levels there is so much buffer around you that you are isolated from the basic sources of aberration. You can't get go them, and on the other hand they don't affect you directly very much. All that is available is apparently the results of human life, minor frictions with other people, physical incidents, hypnotic behavior. We deal with what is there, running life repair, objectives, drugs, grades and engrams. By processing those areas we get down to a deeper level of truth, more basic charge.

On the Operation Levels the mis-ownership charge suddenly has to be handled. The buffer has been removed. It can now affect us directly, and in turn we can sort it out. The mis-ownership is still not the basic cause of aberration, but it is what is there and we can't get any further without dealing with it. It is another buffer that must be removed. It consists not just of mis-owned charge but also of others' universes imposed on one's own in various ways.

On the Static Levels one suddenly has direct access to postulate-type material. The buffer of mass one was connected to has been removed. The no-mass stuff can now influence you directly. And not just one's own no-mass but also the no-mass of others. Now, if one doesn't deal with it and handle it it is going to be in full effect upon you. Whole banks that had been erased previously can be re-created in an instant. And reversely the causes of aberration can finally be handled permanently.

Now, how is it that a being has gotten so terribly mixed up with enormous amounts of case that is mostly not his own? What is the basic thing that he is doing wrong?

The subject of case, particularly #2 and #3 case, can be viewed in terms of space and dimensions. LRH hints at that on the "Level VII" tape.

Space is usually in 3 dimensions. It doesn't have to be, but most beings around here seem to agree to that. And then Time can be regarded as a 4th dimension. It really isn't, it is just a lie, but it pretends to be the 4th dimension. Now, every being has these 4 dimensions in his own universe, all for himself. He has his own space in 3 dimensions as far as he conceives and he has agreed to the concept of placing things in time.

Agreeing to time is the cause of a lot of aberration. However the real trouble starts when the being interacts with other beings. And when one then records the impressions made by the other people and their postulates and creations. And one then get's confused.

Now, geometrically we introduce a 5th dimension by recording one's links with others. Everybody else we are dealing with has a 4 dimensional universe and we plot along the 5th dimension any interaction we have with any of those universes. The totality of that 5th dimension includes the physical universe (U3), but also many many more cross links between one beings universe and any other being's universe.

The only way of interacting with another being is if both agree on a common interface. It is impossible to communicate with or affect anyone who hasn't already agreed to that. There is an agreed upon via that both are using. If A and B are interacting then A has a 'copy' or concept of B in his universe that he is interacting with. B in turn has a concept of A in his universe that he is interacting with. If they have a high enough level of agreement they can interact like that.

Now, all you can handle in terms of others' case is the part that you have a link with, or what you can handle through the link you have.

The running of Suppressed Person RD on lower levels is a good example of these phenomena. You have person A in session and as a result of what is run person B changes his attitude. And apparently without having B is session. What is being handled is A's part of it, including his 'picture' of B. Since they have some sort of agreed upon link the handling of one side of it will change the other side of it.

On OLIII or Excalibur running entities is again a manifestation of this. It is useful to look at it as if we are handling beings that are stuck on one's body or space and so forth. But really we are just handling an interface to someone else's universe. When we have handled it the being apparently blows. Which means that the link from our end has been erased. What happens from the former entity's end is harder to say conclusively. If being an entity for me was the major situation for him, it is likely to have a major freeing effect that I handle my end of it of course.

On the Phoenix levels it becomes more clear that it is the interface we are handling. We are auditing other beings who many of them are big beings with bodies and their own games and so forth. And still it sort of seems like one has their full attention and is freeing them in session. What one is freeing is of course one's own side of the link with these guys. That might have a very minor effect or bigger effects on those guys depending on the importance the link to you had to them. Most of the big beings probably wouldn't even notice that something had freed. For MOCOs (created viewpoints) the effect would be more drastic.

Similarly for other beings one is dealing with on Super Power, The Grail, and Upper Level Review phenomena.

So, it is useful to look at it as points of concurrence between separate 4 dimensional spaces. Or in other words as a 5 dimensional sort of mixup. A basic catch here is that it is very hard to visualize. Beings would tend to be very in-flexible in terms of changing viewpoints in those areas. One can easily imagine changing viewpoint within 3 dimensions and it is not too hard to imagine an Operating Thetan doing that. But when it comes to being able to change one's viewpoint it time it becomes a step harder. And changing viewpoints between different other universes becomes even harder to do.

In terms of #2 and #3 case one is really as bad off as one can't change viewpoint in 5 dimensions.

It sort of went down scale like this:

1. One assumes that one has to have a viewpoint
2. One assumes false 4th and 5th dimensions in order to have a game with others
3. One limits one's flexibility in changing viewpoint in the chosen dimension

Rehabilitating one's ability to operate freely in those dimensions is a step on the way out.

Removing one's dependency on links with others (5th) and on time (4th) is the next step.

Clearing one's need to have a viewpoint at all is the next step beyond that.

And finally one's ability to create universes with any number of dimensions or without dimensions should be established.

The Clearing Paradox

 

The "File Clerk" mechanism hints at an interesting aspect of clearing.

See, there is this mechanism that makes confrontable pieces of case available and keeps too restimulative areas out of view. The mechanism can be overloaded if the being himself insists, but it will always re-assume it's job later.

It is this mechanism that makes clearing possible. It makes it possible to, on a gradient, view and re-evaluate one's aberrations. The mechanism apparently knows which area it would be best to look at next, and gradually makes the truth available. Very handy.

However, the only possible source of this mechanism is the being himself. There is no other agency, no other being that is more in control of it than himself. He is basically the only one who knows the truth, and it is his truth that he wishes to find.

For the file clerk mechanism to operate it has to know all the contents of the bank, and it has to prioritize the charge in order of confrontability. Or in other words the being himself has to be able to do that. He has to know what is in the bank in order to put it in the order he can confront to look at it. Or, to say it differently, he can't find and erase charge unless he already knows what it is. Or, in other words, he is fully in control of both providing the data to view and of "finding" out about it. It is a pan-determined proposition, being cause over both sides of the game.

Whatever mechanism the being sets up to perpetrate this "hoax" doesn't change the fact that he is doing it. He might be using static clones or whatever, but it doesn't amount to more than fabricated vias.

Well, if you already know everything about the case, why do you have to handle it? Because that is the game we are playing: diving into aberration and digging ourselves out in order to improve the quality of theta. It is just a game.

There is really nothing that stops you from being rid of all case in an instant, except for that you have agreed not to do that. Or only to do it temporarily if it is necessary enough. Necessity Level (or OMNI state as mentioned in the ULR course) is really just that you set all your case aside and do whatever is necessary to handle something. And then you put all the case back when you are done with that. So, of course, you yourself are in control of that.

It is somewhat reassuring to know that one can never be anything less than fully in control, one remains a static no matter what, one really never leaves Tone 40. Anything else is just something we are playing.

You can't find the truth unless you already know it.

Types of Composites

 

At several points going through the clearing levels there is the phenomena of a Composite.

1. A raw PC who walks in will usually have his case intertwined with his environment: out ruds, upsets, problems etc. To be able to address his case more cleanly we handle those environmental hang-ups first. That is a Life Repair or just ruds. And we will do the same thing on later occasions in the form of ruds or set-ups. We want the PC separated out from his immediate life, so that we can handle more general charge such as the grades. A PC has to be set-up for a major action and that can be regarded as getting him separated from a composite.

2. Up through the grades and on engram running the PC can be considered a composite of his case and the case of entities and groups of entities. Since it is all one composite we can handle case as general areas of charge without being too specific. After Clear the person needs to be made aware of the phenomena, and at OL2 we break up that composite and can start handling the component parts: The entity groups and himself.

3. On the next levels we are mainly engaged in "blowing" beings. We don't really detail where they are or where they are going beyond what is needed to blow them. The physical reality still seems to be a composite and we would treat it as such. That composite is going to break up on OL12. After that it rather seems to be my universe (U1) and the others' universes (U2).

4. After that point we are still involved mostly in handling the case of others that is imposed on one's universe. The reason for the acceptance of this imposition is still uncertain, we are just handling it because it is there. That is the next composite to break, and after that the mass-less causes of the case can be viewed and handled separate from the imposition itself. That happens at some point after OL 16.

5. The next composite seems to be the structures of static material. Beingnesses, Goals, GPM type structures etc. They would be dealt with as such to the point where the structures themselves are discovered to be false. After that point there would only be the being's own postulates directly available without false structures.

The exact nature of and the dividing line between these composites can be re-evaluated at a later point. The key thing to understand is that it is likely that the breaking up of one type of composite will lead one into the scope of another composite that subsequently must be broken up.

The Reason for GPMs

An all-knowing being who wants to play games is presented with a couple of problems:

- how does one make something unknown so that one can have fun finding it out?
- how does one make something persist long enough to have fun with it?

The solution to both is Alter-Isness. One has to change the truth, one has to fabricate some lies.

The Alter-Is has to be complicated enough to fool the being himself, at least partially. He has to invent a tricky mechanism that he doesn't immediately see through. To make a postulate stick he has to make up a sufficient amount of misdirecting alter-is so that he is comfortable about letting it persist and so that he has a lie he can work with.

The GPM structure looks a lot like just such a structure of lies. At the bottom of a GPM is a postulate, the postulate that one is trying to cover up or not take responsibility for by having a GPM. The terminals go through a gradual series of Alter-Is. At the top we have a Service Fac which is exactly the workable lie that was needed. One can use it indefinitely because it's origin is well hidden. And the GPM provides a "logical" story of why it came to be like that, if anybody cares to look. The top Service Fac might be "All horses sleep in beds" or it might be the physical universe, there is a wide range of workable lies.

The use of beingnesses and opposed forces is a very effective way of creating a persistent alter-is. As long as one holds those subjects as true one can be subjected to such structures.

To handle the issue for good one would not only have to trace back the structures and find the postulates behind them. One would also have to remove any dependency on beingnesses or double terminals.

GPMs are only one of many possible structures that could cover up postulates. They might or might not have to be handled in a certain order.

The structures can of course be other-determined, self-determined, or pan-determined and they would work differently depending on their origin. They would always be intended for Alter-Isness though.

Beyond handling the structures is the handling of the need to have an Alter-Is at all.

The postulates found under alter-is structures don't necessarily look like truth. They are actually just as likely to be silly illogical nonsense. The being knew the truth from the start. There would be no reason to try to get the truth to persist. What you want to persist is generally a pack of lies. But, of course, all lies take their power from the truth. And the highest truth is the Static. And the Static can make whatever it wants the truth.

Directions of Clearing

There are two possible directions of the flow of clearing. They could be termed Negative and Positive, or Subjective and Objective.

First of all a person wants clearing for certain reasons. He wants to get rid of disabilities and he wants to regain abilities. He wants to move in the direction of greater awareness, knowledge, ability, freedom, etc towards absolute truth. He might express his goals in terms of abilities or disabilities, that doesn't really matter - it is a gradient scale.

The person might have specific things he wants handled, or he might follow a generalized map of subjects.

Whatever the subject is that is being worked on it can be addressed in two different ways.


 Negative

We can address REASONS for having disabilities or for not having abilities. At a practical level of truth we will try to locate and view something that blocks that area. We will try to find out exactly WHAT it is to a point of as-ising it. By doing that we GET RID OF the block. It gets BLOWN, i.e. either disappeared for good or removed from the area it is blocking.

There is ultimately only ONE reason for all case and that is the Static that is Postulating. Any other "reason" is a workable relative truth on a certain level. It will produce as-isness on that relative level. That is what makes a gradual road of clearing possible.

A person who has a pain in a tooth might handle it by getting it pulled out. That is an example of negative clearing, finding the cause of the matter and removing it. It is a workable truth at a very low level. It might be a higher truth to find out that he has an engram that is causing the pain and erasing it, if he is ready to do that. And an even better reason could be that he has postulated to have a bad tooth, and by finding that he can blow it.

All case is additives to absolute truth. Negative Clearing handles these by duplicating them exactly whereby they are vanished. That is the direct approach to handling aberration.

However, Negative Clearing has some apparent drawbacks. It is looking for a REASON for something and removing it. So, it is INTROVERTED in that one has to look inside one's space for a reason. It is SUBJECTIVE for that same reason. One looses something by getting rid of the reason, one's HAVINGNESS DROPS by doing that. That havingness must somehow be remedied, hopefully by an expansion of ability and awareness.

Purification RD, Overts, Grade 3 and 4 main processes, Dianetics, Operation Levels 2,3,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16, and GPM running are all negative clearing.

Positive

In stead of looking for things we can remove, we can exercise the positive abilities we want. Get in command of the area we are interested in, get to be cause over it.

This is the direct approach to increased abilities. Just working on the specific ability until one is totally flexible and at cause over it.

Positive Clearing has two different sub-effects. First, by exercising one's control over a subject through all possible variations one is likely to duplicate any aberration on the subject and as-is it along the way. Secondly, one can create abilities one never had before, totally new possibilities.

Objectives, most of the grade processes, OL 1, old 5,6,7, and any kind of creative processing is positive.

Positive Clearing could be called OBJECTIVE in that one is looking outwards, one is EXTROVERTED. One is increasing one's havingness.

The direction of lookingness is relative to where one considers oneself being located. Objectives are extroverting to someone associated with a body, but they would be introverting to someone exterior to the physical universe who considers it part of his case, because they would encourage agreement with the case.

Positive processing is limited in that it is done from a certain relative point of awareness. One's imagination powers are limited by one's existing aberration. One can't really extrovert oneself all the way out of something one doesn't know what is. 

The truth of the matter is that both the positive and negative approach is imperfect and limited. Each one done for too long will produce a stuck flow. Negative processing will eventually get one into agreement with the aberration, Positive processing will eventually get one to ignore one's aberrations and be even more the effect of them.

The solution is a balance between the two. One is the remedy of the other. They will both have to be taken to their fullest extent gradually, interspersed with the reverse flow.

The principle of two opposites, two directions, two flows, two terminals, dichotomies, etc is extremely basic. The reason for most case is one's intentional or unintentional failure to see things from two points at the same time. A basic action and agreement in entering the games was to assume ONE viewpoint. Anything that requires two are more viewpoints to resolve will then persist. Reversely, gradually acquiring the ability to see things from any number of viewpoints will resolve any case. One of the last things to go would be the agreement to the two-terminal principle. Until then balance must always be taken into consideration.

 The desirable qualities are addressed by the positive approach. However the reasons for not having them are only found with the negative approach. We need both.

On any subject both sides of the coin must be dealt with. If we key somebody out on life (grades) we've better follow it up before too long with finding some reasons for the aberration (Engram running). If we remove somebody's reactive mind we've better give them the ability to make a new one (was done on one of the earlier OL1 versions), otherwise they could still be the effect of it. If we remove entities from someone's space (OL3) we've better give them the ability to occupy more space by themselves (old OL5-7). If we take someone out of the physical universe (OL 9-16) we've better increase his ability to make his own (Creative Processing). And having keyed someone out of the universe we've better find out why he got stuck in it in the first place (above OL16).

The current grade chart is overall not very evenly balanced. The lower part up to Clear is fine if both grades and engrams are run. After Clear the person might not know how or why he is Clear or what it really was he got rid of. A positive step like the old OL 1 might be in order here. After OL2-3 a lot of negative stuff has been run out. Some outgoing processes like old OL 5-7 would be a good idea. OL 8-16 is an even greater stretch of negative processing. Despite great gains on these levels the person is likely to go more into agreement with that type of case and since he looses a lot of "havingness" he is likely to remedy it in unusual ways. Creative processing steps could probably be interjected after 8, 13 and 16 with excellent results.

The road can only be travelled all the way with a balance of flows.

Optimum Restimulation

 

The cycle of Clearing is:

That is the most basic thing there is to say about it. Anything that does those two things can be called Clearing. Anything that doesn't isn't. It applies to processes, parts of processes, grades, rundowns, and anything else.

In #1 we bring up some subject, make the preclear do something, or ask a question, with enough impact or done often enough to bring a piece or category of aberration forward.

In #2 we continue doing something about the aberration until it disappears again and the preclear is better off than he was before we started.

Now, there is a limited number of things one can do wrong in clearing:

Too little   Too much
-1. Not restimulating anything,
-2. Not running any restimulation out.
  +1. Restimulate more than can be run out,
+2. Run out more than restimulated.

-1 is when the practitioner is afraid to create an effect on the pc, or when he is trying to bring up something that is not real for the pc, or if the pc is feeling too good to look at it, or if the pc doesn't duplicate the question, or if the pc doesn't want to communicate with the practitioner, or any of a million other variations. They all add up to not reaching the preclear's bank.

-2 is when the practitioner doesn't know what to do about the restimulation, he might not know what it is, or which process to use, or he might just not do it, he might just end off without running the restimulation out.

+1 is when we bring up more than we know how to get rid of, when the preclear is forced into a heavy area before he is ready for it, or before the practitioner knows the right tech.

+2 is when we continue beyond running out what we restimulated. That is an overrun and one might get into some other charge that one doesn't know what to do with.

The bright reader will easily conclude that the thing to do is to

1. Restimulate a suitable amount of charge that could run out,
2. Run the charge exactly until we have run out what we ran in.

That is what any good clearing practitioner will know about and try to do. However, they don't restimulate the same amount of charge, and they don't run it out with the same efficiency. It depends on the practitioner's skill level and which tech he has available.

To get through with the clearing and get somewhere as quickly as possible we would want to run out as much charge per unit of time as possible. The limiting factors on that are again:

1. Knowing how to restimulate a lot of charge,
2. Knowing how to get rid of a lot of charge,

but possible there is one more:

3. How much charge is the preclear willing to give up per unit of time.

Because really the session is just a trick to coax the pc into getting rid of the aberration himself, he is doing it all himself. But the question is if with a high enough skill level on 1 and 2 there would be any top limit on 3. Do different preclears have different standards for how quickly they can get things off. They do, but it is not known if that is because of limits in the techniques used.

Practically any problem with overrestimulation is a problem with lack of technique. Certain techniques are limited to only handling one "thing" at a time and under certain conditions. If we have more things at a time and the conditions have changed and the practitioner doesn't know what to do, then we have overrestimulation. However, if the practitioner does know what to do it might be a chance to get more case out of the way than expected.

Optimum restimulation is the maximum amount of charge we can get rid of within a practical session length. If the practitioner has more tricks up his sleeve he can allow more restimulation. The best practitioner has a full overview of how best to handle any kind of restimulation.

There are certain rules presented in the training of clearing practitioners on what one can run on which pcs and what one shouldn't run. These rules are practical in keeping things simple and making sure that practitioners aren't getting into things they aren't trained on, and that preclears then aren't left with things that can't be handled. But these rules might not apply if one knows how to deal with any of the restimulation. There shouldn't really be anything that couldn't be run on anybody as long as one would know what to do about. There are practical gradients of running things, but that is a different matter.

Rules like that one shouldn't run Engrams or Power on Clears is a good example of this. That you can't run them because the Clear no longer has this case is a non-sequitur explanation. If you run something and it creates restimulation there is obviously something there. The thing is that the type of restimulation changes and one can no longer handle it the old way. That doesn't necessarily mean that one shouldn't do it, it just means that one needs to come up with some better tech. The solution is to find ways of dealing with the restimulation that can be created.

An old true rule is that the remedy must exist at the same time as the bullet. If a process is to be used we have to know how to handle anything that could happen. So if we can handle what comes up let's squeeze everything out of a subject we can. If we can't handle it we better leave it alone, but somebody should figure out some new tricks.

As described, clearing is a terribly simple proposition of restimulating as much as we can handle and then running it out completely. The optimum amount is what gets the most done in a comfortable way.
